5.8 million visitors to Taiwan from January to September; female travelers exceed 50% for the first time

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Transportation, there were 5.8 million visitors to Taiwan from January to September, with female travelers accounting for over 50% of the total for the first time. However, among neighboring countries such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, the proportion of female visitors to Taiwan did not reach 50%. The Ministry of Transportation stated that more efforts should be made to promote Taiwan’s friendly and safe tourism environment in order to attract more female travelers.

The Ministry of Transportation reported that there were 5.8 million visitors to Taiwan from January to September, an 8.9% increase compared to the same period last year, averaging 21,000 visitors per day, setting a new high for the same period in history. Among them, the proportion of visitors traveling for tourism purposes rose to 67.4%. By country, the largest number of visitors came from mainland China, totaling 2.18 million. Additionally, visitors from Singapore, Hong Kong/Macao, and Malaysia all saw growth of over 10%, with visitor numbers reaching 230,000, 870,000, and 250,000 respectively.

As for Japan, affected by the depreciation of the yen, the number of Japanese visitors to Taiwan has been declining for seven consecutive months.
