Fangshan Forest Park is a national-level forest park.

Liuhe Fangshan is located thirty li east of the city and is named for its flat terrain on all sides. In ancient times, Fangshan served as the boundary mountain between Liuhe and Yizheng. Today, it lies within Hengliang Township of the county, and buses can take you directly to the foot of the mountain. Fangshan stands in a triad with Hengshan and Yashan (also called Nai Shan), at an elevation of 184 meters. It boasts a majestic and spectacular presence. From its summit, one can gaze into the distance at the faint outlines of green mountains, the meandering Chuzi River, and below, vast stretches of land dotted with wooded paths and emerald-green farmland. Ancient poems such as “Mooring at Fangshan Port, mourning the past at Fangshan Pavilion; the silks of the Sui palace are all gone, yet the stone mountain retains its faint green traces” celebrate the beauty of Fangshan.

Fangshan is a classic extinct volcanic crater of great geological research value. It preserves a relatively intact volcanic mantle and serves as a living specimen for geological study and research. Each year, it attracts large numbers of experts, scholars, and university and college students for internships and field studies. The scenic area spans a total of 8,000 mu, encompassing Fangshan, Hengshan, and Nai Shan. Among this, the forestry land area exceeds 7,000 mu, with a forest coverage rate of over 90%. The main forest types include black locust, pine, bamboo, cryptomeria, and tea plantations, featuring rich vegetation. The forest is home to various species of birds, and Fangshan is also known for producing Yuhua stones and Nanjing Yuhua tea.

The Yuhua tea plantation base is situated atop the scenic and elegantly environed peak of Fangshan. At a high elevation and adjacent to a reservoir, the area enjoys high air humidity year-round, along with deep and fertile soil layers — making it highly suitable for tea cultivation. A complete protective forest system surrounds the site, and there is no industrial pollution within dozens of kilometers, ensuring an outstanding ecological environment.

Transportation by bus: Take a bus from Nanjing to Luhe, then transfer to the Luhe–Donggou bus line and get off at Fangshan Forest Farm Station.

Self-driving route: From Nanjing, head toward the Second Bridge, Luhe, and Yangzhou direction; exit at Donggou, then turn left for 5 minutes to reach the destination.
