Nanjing Pingshan Forest Park

Nanjing Pingshan Forest Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

With a total area of 2,213 hectares, Nanjing Pingshan Forest Park is bordered by Baiduqiao Town to the east, Ma’an Town to the south, National Highway 205 and Maji Town to the west, and Yeshan Town to the north. The Pingshan mountain range originated from a mountain-building movement 130 million years ago, and the forest is primarily composed of primary and secondary growth. The park is among the first batch of ecological environment demonstration and education bases in Jiangsu Province. As part of the Green Nanjing development plan, it is considered the “back garden” of northern Jiangsu and a vast urban oxygen bar in the northern part of the city. It consists of seven mountains and eight lakes, covering a total area of 13.82 square kilometers.

Amid the rolling mountains and lush forests, the park is home to more than ten species of protected animals, including egrets, wild foxes, and river deer, as well as over 400 varieties of plants such as black pine, ginkgo, tea trees, moso bamboo, and hackberry. The local seed orchards of pond cypress and bald cypress are among the few large-scale seedling forests in the province. One of the park’s most distinctive features is its “mountains within mountains, valleys within valleys, and waters within waters,” where mountains, valleys, and water bodies blend seamlessly, creating a picturesque landscape. The park includes five major themed areas: an International Eco-Sports and Lifestyle Base, the Pingshan Tourism Resort Headquarters, the Changshan Geological Research Base, the Pingshan Earth Art Theme Park, and a Three-Dimensional Forest Vitality Leisure Community.

Natural attractions in the park include underground mineral water springs, green tea plantations, jasmine gardens, rare wildlife, and mountain lakes. Cultural and historical sites feature ancient temple ruins, peculiar rock formations, and the remains of the Wolf Den site. The park is divided into six functional zones: the Entrance Service Area, Cuiming Sentiment Area, Forest Activity Area, Comprehensive Service Area, Quiet Leisure Area, and Forest Landscape Area.

Transportation Guide – Park Address: Northern part of Maji Town, Luhe District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province

By Bus: Take a bus from Nanjing on routes such as Yiqiao–Luhe, Zhongshan South Road–Luhe, or Zhongyangmen–Luhe to the South Gate of Luhe, then transfer to the Maji shuttle bus to Pingshan Forest Farm.

By Car: From Nanjing, take the Second Bridge Expressway toward G40, then the Shanghai–Nanjing Expressway toward G205, exit at the Liuhe Interchange of the Ninglian Expressway, then follow Mayu Line, Yuedu Line, and arrive at Pingshan Forest Park.
