Liuhe Wanshou Palace

Liuhe Wanshou Palace is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

Liuhe Wanshou Palace is located at No. 116-1 Changjiang Road, Hehua Community, Xiongzhou Subdistrict, Liuhe District, Nanjing, and faces Liuhe Confucius Temple across the street. The palace was rebuilt on the former site of Yuanzhen Temple’s Erlang Temple during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. It was destroyed in war in the eighth year of the Xianfeng reign (1858) and reconstructed in the ninth year of the Guangxu reign (1883) to celebrate Empress Dowager Cixi’s 50th birthday. As a shrine built in the late Qing Dynasty to commemorate Empress Dowager Cixi’s birthday, Liuhe Wanshou Palace serves as an important case study for researching the architectural style of Wanshou Palaces during the Qing era. It also holds certain value for studying the development of folk beliefs in the Liuhe region during that period.

In 2019, Liuhe Wanshou Palace was included in the eighth batch of Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Units.
