Sanhuanpao National Nature Reserve is a national-level nature reserve.

Heilongjiang Sanhuanpao National Nature Reserve is located 75 kilometers south of Fujin City, on the left bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Qixing River. It borders the Naliuhe National Nature Reserve to the east and adjoins the Qixinghe National Nature Reserve to the west. Stretching 56 kilometers from east to west and 11 kilometers from north to south, the reserve covers a total area of 27,687 hectares. Of this, the core zone spans 10,919 hectares, the buffer zone 10,114 hectares, and the experimental zone 6,654 hectares. The reserve is home to 415 species of wild plants across 78 families, including five nationally protected species such as wild soybean and lotus. It also hosts 301 species of vertebrates from 169 genera and 70 families, among which are six Class I nationally protected wildlife species such as the red-crowned crane and white-naped crane, and 28 Class II protected species such as the white-naped crane and whooper swan.

Sanhuanpao Nature Reserve is classified as an inland wetland and aquatic ecosystem-type nature reserve. It is one of the few well-preserved, large tracts of original wetlands remaining in the Sanjiang Plain, serving as a microcosm of the region’s original wetland ecosystems. The area holds significant conservation value and represents a highly typical and representative wetland ecological zone within the same climatic belt.
