The Site of the Laoheigou Massacre is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Laoheigou is located in what was formerly Yushugou Township, 8 kilometers from the Jiaojin Highway, and is now under the administration of Xin'an Township. It is part of the Changbai Mountain range, featuring towering peaks and ancient trees, with breathtaking natural scenery. The area spans 40 kilometers from north to south and 5 kilometers from east to west, with over a dozen villages scattered throughout.

From the 27th day of the fourth lunar month to the first day of the fifth lunar month in 1935, Japanese invaders mobilized over a thousand puppet troops from the Third Battalion of the 38th Army to carry out a brutal encirclement and suppression of Yushugou, implementing the "Three Alls" policy (kill all, burn all, loot all). They massacred 1,017 civilians in six administrative villages—Huachu Liudingzi, Qingdingzi, Yueyapao Bian, Dongshantou of Yushugou, Xiliuhe Tun West, and Hujia Dian—committing heinous crimes against the Chinese people.

On August 31, 1995, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the victory of the anti-fascist war and the innocent victims of the massacre, the Shulan Municipal Committee built a monument and an exhibition hall on the scenic hill behind Chang’an Village in Yushugou. At the same time, the Jilin Provincial Government designated the site as a Patriotic Education Base. The exhibition hall exposes the ironclad evidence of the atrocities committed by Japanese imperialism against the Chinese people through a large number of cultural relics, photos, images, and paintings. In March 2002, the Laoheigou Massacre site was listed as a Jilin Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit. The Xin'an Township government and the city tourism bureau planned to develop tourist facilities near the monument, providing services for visitors and mourners, turning it into a red tourism memorial site.

On October 7, 2019, the Site of the Laoheigou Massacre was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
