The Shenyang Railway Exhibition Hall is located at No. 8 Shandan Street, Sujiatun District, Shenyang City, and officially opened on October 18, 2011. The predecessor of the Shenyang Railway Exhibition Hall was the Shenyang Railway Steam Locomotive Exhibition Hall, which was built in 1984. In March 2005, the Shenyang Steam Locomotive Museum was relocated from Qipanshan Botanical Garden to Shenyang Forest Park in Tiexi District, and in 2010, the exhibition hall was moved again, finally settling at No. 8 Shandan Street, Sujiatun District.

Covering an area of 80,000 square meters with an exhibition building area of 19,000 square meters, the Shenyang Railway Exhibition Hall is currently the largest railway exhibition hall in Northeast China. The newly completed Shenyang Railway Exhibition Hall integrates collection, exhibition, publicity, and education, and is mainly divided into the railway equipment exhibition area, historical photo exhibition area, transport capacity exhibition area, and safety education exhibition area. It serves five functions: achievement display, exemplary promotion, centralized education, quality training, and thematic activities. It is an important venue for inheriting railway history and culture, showcasing scientific development achievements, conducting education on socialist core values, and strengthening spiritual civilization construction.

The oldest locomotive in the exhibition hall is a 1907 American-made model, primarily used for branch line freight trains. At that time, its speed was only 55 kilometers per hour. After 77 years of service, it was retired in 1984.

In addition, the hall displays 28 steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, and electric locomotives. Besides the earliest 1907 American-made steam locomotive, there is also a 1911 Soviet-made freight car. In the old locomotive exhibition area, there is also the national hero train — the Beijing to Shenyang Express Train No. 12. The three bright red digits “811” are mounted on the front of the locomotive. It was on this train that the crew battled floodwaters for three days and nights during a major flood in 1959, ensuring the safety of over 600 passengers and rescuing more than 300 local residents affected by the disaster.

The Shenyang Railway Exhibition Hall is not just a historical museum but also a continuously updated railway exhibition hall. A seemingly ordinary green train is the Harmony 3 series diesel locomotive, jointly manufactured in 2008 by CNR Group of China and an American company. Its total traction power ranks first in the world, equivalent to ten locomotives from the early days of New China.

The cutting-edge equipment representing the world’s pinnacle doesn’t stop there. On the east side of the locomotive exhibition area, a row of sturdy steel rails catches everyone’s attention. Thanks to the application of high technology, these rails not only achieve seamless connection but also allow trains to run at speeds of up to 380 kilometers per hour. Due to their superior quality and durability, they require no maintenance throughout their lifetime, meaning routes laid with these rails no longer need long-term track inspection workers exposed to wind and sun.

Transportation Routes:

1. Bus Route: Take bus No. 324, 327, or 333 within Shenyang City and get off at Shandan Street, then walk for 15 minutes.

2. Train Route: Take a train to Sujiatun Railway Station and take a taxi from there.

3. Self-driving Route: Shenyang City – Shengli South Street – Xuelian Street – Shandan Street – Railway Exhibition Hall.
