Chengding Mountain Scenic Area is located in Xiaochengzi Village, Niamaowu Town, Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County, Dandong City. It enjoys convenient transportation, being 160 kilometers from Dandong and 4 kilometers from the Qing Shan Gou National Scenic Area. The area boasts stunning natural scenery and magnificent cultural landscapes, with over 30 scenic spots. The Eight Immortals Rock, Divine Display Peak, Homesickness Spring, Yellow Bird Rock, Thousand-Year-Old Elm, and Chestnut Divine Tree, among others, create a heavenly landscape on earth. At the top of the scenic area lies an ancient Goguryeo mountain fortress built atop a plateau supported by cliffs with a perimeter of 1,515 meters. Situated at an altitude of 710 meters and covering an area of 84,000 square meters, the fortress is backed by mountains and faces water, featuring steep terrain that makes it easily defensible yet hard to attack. It was constructed along the contours of the mountain. The surrounding walls were built using chiseled wedge-shaped stones (known as ox-tail stones). The site contains numerous ruins, with 38 discovered features including the west gate, water gate, general’s platform, wells, pools, sentry house foundations, and other remains. A large number of artifacts collected from local folklore include arrowheads, horse saddles, stirrups, bowls, stone mortars, and beads. Experts have confirmed these items hold significant historical and cultural value.
