Kuandian Zhengrong Mountain

Zhengrong Mountain is located one kilometer northwest of the Kuandian County government. Its main peak has an elevation of 907.2 meters, and the mountain range stretches a total length of 7 kilometers. In earlier times, there was the "Temple of Bixia Yuanjun" built during the Ming Dynasty at the summit, commonly known as Niangniangdingzi. In the second year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1836), the "Three Saints Palace" was rebuilt on the site of the old temple, forming the famous ancient Zhengrong Temple.

In the 27th year of the Guangxu reign (1901), Magistrate Rongxi visited the area and chose the character "zhengrong" (meaning towering or majestic) from the poems of Meng Jiao (“I wish to carry my carriage and horses, but the road through the Taihang Mountains is steep and rugged”) and Su Dongpo (“Coming from the south, I barely notice the years flying by in their majestic rush”) to name the mountain Zhengrong Mountain.

Zhengrong Mountain guards the back of Kuandian County. With overlapping peaks stretching like a screen, it is called the “Jinrong Screen.” The summit is broad and open, covered with lush forests and deep streams. The middle part features secondary mixed forests of oak, birch, Manchurian walnut, and linden trees, while the lower section has a small number of larch forests. The western side is marked by steep cliffs, exposed rocks, and ancient pines growing in the crevices of the precipices, displaying a variety of forms. The Kuandian County TV transmission tower is built at the mountain’s highest peak, making it a popular scenic destination in Kuandian.
