A mountaineering team climbing Fuxingjian Mountain; 7 people stung by bees
On the morning of the 11th, a bee swarm attack occurred at kilometer 59 on Provincial Highway 7 in Fuxing District, Taoyuan City. Over 20 hikers were ascending Fuxing District’s Jian Mountain when they were attacked by a swarm of bees. A total of seven hikers suffered stings to the head and hands, among whom a 50-year-old woman surnamed Li sustained approximately 10 bee stings, experienced limb weakness and swelling in her left eye, and had relatively severe injuries. The seven injured individuals were taken by firefighters to the Hualing Medical Station for examination and were found to be in stable condition, with no need for further hospitalization.

Hikers witness massive avalanche — shocking footage sends chills down the spine
In movies, we often see exaggerated scenes of natural disasters, but nothing is more terrifying than an actual assault by nature. Whether predictable or not, any disaster can cause significant casualties. Recently, a group of researchers in India encountered an avalanche near the Himalayas in Zanskar, northern India. Instead of escaping immediately, they approached the snowy mountain and used their phones to record the astonishing moment of the avalanche. It is still unclear whether there were any casualties. The video shows the avalanche was massive, yet the crew members in the frame seemed unaware of the danger. They even moved closer to the site to witness the spectacle. Family hiking: Beware of altitude sickness in children
Recently, an 11-year-old boy suffered from altitude sickness at Cui Pond on Snow Mountain, leading to an emergency rescue and helicopter evacuation. In August alone, two cases of childhood altitude sickness occurred. The Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters urged that studies show children have a higher probability of experiencing altitude sickness than adults. Before bringing children into high-altitude areas, parents must be well-informed about altitude sickness and prepare emergency response and descent plans to ensure safer family hiking. According to a research study published by Dr. Wang Shih-Hao in the international travel medicine journal *Journal of Travel Medicine*, among 96 healthy children aged 11–12 who had not undergone prior altitude acclimatization, 59% developed acute mountain sickness over a three-day climb up Yushan (Jade Mountain), which is higher than the 36% rate observed in adults—clearly showing that children are more susceptible to altitude-related symptoms in high-altitude mountainous regions.
Conquer Heaven’s Road: Taiwan King of the Mountains Race Kicks Off in October
Entering its fifth year, the Taiwan King of the Mountains race will commence on October 28. One dead and one injured in climbing accident on Guanguan Seven Peaks
Mountain climbing accidents occurred separately on Mǎjiǎn Mountain and Dōngmǎo Mountain of the Guanguan Seven Peaks in Heping District, Taichung City, on the 28th, resulting in one death and one injury. Hiking tourist collapses on Heping Xinsan Line Trail, sent to hospital for treatment
A female hiker suddenly collapsed at the 2.1K point of the Heping District’s Maa-Xinsan Line Trail in Taichung City today. The Taichung City Fire Bureau responded to the incident and transported the hiker to the hospital for medical treatment around 2 p.m. The Taichung City Fire Bureau received a report at 10:40 a.m. stating that a female hiker near the 2.1K mark of the Maa-Xinsan Line Trail was feeling unwell and had collapsed. She was accompanied by her husband, who stayed at the scene waiting for help. As it was already raining in the mountainous area at the time, the fire bureau said that upon reaching the site, rescuers assessed the hiker’s condition and decided to secure her in a basket stretcher using ropes. A report was received by the Taichung City Fire Department at around 12 pm today stating that among a group of 20 hikers who had just reached the summit and were resting, a male hiker surnamed Yang suddenly became unresponsive, with no breathing or heartbeat, requiring urgent rescue. Upon receiving the report, the fire department immediately dispatched personnel up the mountain and requested helicopter assistance. Hiking group attacked by hornets in Taichung’s Heping District; 5 hospitalized
A five-member hiking team in Taichung’s Heping District was attacked by hornets this noon while descending from Tuilun Mountain toward the trailhead. They called for help from the fire department, which transported the injured to an orchard parking lot before sending them to hospitals. The Taichung City Fire Department received a report around noon from Wu, the team leader, stating that the group had accidentally been stung by hornets while moving from Tuilun Mountain toward the trailhead and requested assistance. Firefighters immediately dispatched personnel from the Lishan branch to conduct the rescue. The fire department stated that rescuers reached the injured around 1:45 p.m. All were conscious, so they were transported by official motorcycles to the orchard parking lot on Songmao Forest Road. (Updated 20:16) A 21-year-old man surnamed Zhang and his father, along with a group of 11 hikers climbing Snow Mountain, sought help from the Taichung City Fire Bureau when Zhang experienced hemorrhoid bleeding at the 7.1k mark on the main Snow Mountain trail (near the 369 Mountain Hut). Rescue personnel assessed that Zhang was moving slowly and was at risk of severe blood loss, so they immediately requested an air rescue helicopter to transport him to Dongshi, where he was then taken by ambulance to a hospital. He has since recovered with no further issues.
