Food safety concerns continue to escalate Taipei Food Exhibition postponed to October
The "2014 Taipei Food Exhibition," originally scheduled to take place from September 19 to September 22 at the Taipei Expo Park's Flower Expo Competition Hall, has been postponed. Due to ongoing investigations into the source of certain cooking oils, and in order to avoid causing public concerns over food safety and to rebuild consumer confidence, the Taipei City Department of Economic Development announced that the "2014 Taipei Food Exhibition" will now be held from October 17 to October 20.
Taiwan’s first light rail arrives in Kaohsiung! Test run on November 9, can carry 250 passengers
Taiwan’s first light rail has arrived in Kaohsiung! Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu stated that the Kaohsiung Circular Light Rail is the first in Asia to adopt a fully catenary-free power supply system. A dynamic test is scheduled for November, and the system will be operated by the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation in the future, providing Kaohsiung with low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and high-quality public transportation services.

Taiwan’s first budget airline has officially been established！Tigerair Taiwan, which announced its launch in late December last year, has successfully passed the Civil Aeronautics Administration’s five-stage strict review process. Today (the 16th) at noon, it officially received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Civil Aeronautics Administration. It will launch its maiden flight on the Taipei-Singapore route on September 26 as originally planned, officially becoming Taiwan’s first operational low-cost carrier.
