A domestic airline announced today (16th) that starting October 1st, it will collaborate with a well-known Japanese hotel for a one-year in-flight meal partnership, bringing five-star Japanese cuisine to new heights. With autumn underway, China Airlines has partnered with Okura Nikko. Developed jointly by China Airlines’ in-flight catering Japanese cuisine chef Li Mingzhe and Okura Nikko’s executive chef Morii Rin’nosuke, this special set will be served in business class on Taiwan-originating routes such as Songshan–Haneda, Taoyuan–Narita, and Taoyuan–Osaka. Travelers can savor autumn-inspired Japanese cuisine made with seasonal ingredients, embodying the “shun” (seasonal) dining concept, under the name “Yama no Sato Japanese Shokado Bento Set.”

The appetizer is “Abalone Ginger Grilled with Simmered Prawns and Sansho Leaves,” featuring premium abalone simmered to perfection and paired with succulent prawns to stimulate the appetite, complemented by traditional Japanese simmered dishes such as taro, pumpkin, konnyaku, and Southeast Asian-style chicken. These elements bring a gentle, comforting texture. For the main course, there are two highlights: “Miso Braised Beef Tongue” and “Salmon Saikyo-yaki.” The refreshing taste of the salmon saikyo-yaki contrasts beautifully with the rich umami of the beef tongue. The meal is served with Koshihikari rice, miso soup, pickles, and Japanese chestnut sweets provided by China Airlines’ in-flight catering. Passengers not only enjoy an elevated dining experience in the skies but also immerse themselves in the vibrant colors, delicate presentation, and unique flavors of Japanese cuisine.
