Beer Spring

In the Arxanborig Sumu area of Xilinhot City, there is a natural mineral spring that can treat gastrointestinal diseases, skin conditions, and rheumatoid arthritis, among other illnesses. It is not only known to locals but also sought after by people from nearby towns, cities, and pastoral areas. This spring is referred to as the “Sacred Spring.” When summer comes, people suffering from various ailments flock here to either drink the water or bathe in it. The “Sacred Spring” water is cool, refreshing, and tastes like beer, hence it is also called “Beer Spring.”

There is a beautiful and moving local legend about the origins of the “Sacred Spring”: It is said that long ago, many members of a Mongolian tribe suddenly fell ill with a difficult-to-cure disease. With no solution in sight, they decided to journey far and wide in search of a cure. They traveled over mountains and rivers, consulting many famous doctors, but none could help. One day, when the people were feeling hopeless during their journey, a rainbow suddenly appeared in the sky, streams began to flow, and a clear spring emerged on the grassland.

Immediately, people rushed forward and drank the spring water eagerly. Some even splashed it on their bodies. At that moment, a miracle occurred—their illnesses were cured without any further treatment. The herders firmly believed that the Buddha had saved them, so according to tradition, they lit countless bonfires that night, singing and dancing joyfully. From then on, people settled here for good, and every summer they drank the spring water to ward off illness and disaster, and even applied mud from the spring to their bodies to drive away evil spirits.

Scientific tests have confirmed that the healing properties of the “Sacred Spring” are mainly due to the beneficial trace elements and organic minerals in the water, which bring “good fortune” to those who use it.
