Worship at the Obo in Prince’s Temple

Prince’s Temple, known as “Pandita Gegentemple” in Mongolian and “Chongshan Temple” in Chinese, is one of the four great temples of Inner Mongolia. Originally built in the eighth year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1743), it was refined over seven generations of Living Buddhas and is a sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism. It has long been regarded as the largest temple in the Xilin Gol League region and is a treasure trove of Buddhist culture in the area, enjoying the reputation of the “Famous Temple of the North.” Worshiping at the Obo is a grand and solemn ritual of the Mongolian people, and the most magnificent and enthusiastic of their ceremonies. On the day of the event, participants will visit Prince’s Temple to worship at the Obo, inviting lamas to offer blessings for national peace, prosperity, favorable weather, and safe travels.

Sacred Land of Nomadic Culture

Dong Ujimqin Banner is the largest county-level division in the Xilin Gol League and the region where Mongolian nomadic culture is best preserved. Known as the homeland of Mongolian traditional costumes and long-song singing, the banner is also famous for its thriving handicrafts and the breeding of yellow-maned horses.

“Ulan Muqir”

Ulan Muqir, originally meaning “Red Sprout” in Mongolian, refers to a red cultural work team that performs in rural and pastoral areas. It was established in 1957 in Sonid Right Banner, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Party’s successive leaders have fully affirmed and highly praised the advanced cultural direction upheld by Ulan Muqir. It represents a culmination of Mongolian ethnic culture and the creative works of elite artists from Inner Mongolia, highlighting a fusion of ethnic acrobatics, magic, song, dance, and music. It showcases the beauty and romance of the grasslands, tells the stories of the nomadic people, and interprets the philosophy of reverence for nature.
