Gaofeng Village Cave

Located deep in the mountains of Gaofeng Village, Qinglian Town, Yangshan County, Qingyuan City. This area is remote and well-concealed. The cave entrance faces south, with no other connecting openings. The entrance is about 5 meters wide and 8 meters high and has been sealed off with a mixture of lime, sand, and clay. The clearly identifiable materials in the mixture include sand, stones, and yellow mud, while the rest may consist of brown sugar and glutinous rice, among others. During the investigation, according to an oral account by Li Xuri, a 76-year-old retired county official, when he worked in the area in his thirties, he asked a local elderly person over seventy how long ago the cave entrance had been sealed. The elderly person said that it had already been in its current state since his childhood, leading to the inference that the cave was sealed over a hundred years ago. The cave is located within a rocky mountain among many peaks, and the shape of this rock formation closely resembles a tomb. From a feng shui perspective, the coordinates of this rocky mountain are considered highly favorable. Yangshan County, during the Warring States period, was one of the three small states within the territory of present-day Guangdong — Yangyu State. It got its name from the establishment of the Yangshan and Huangxi passes during the Qin Dynasty and is one of the oldest ancient counties in Guangdong Province.
