Gahua Kiln Site

The Gahua Kiln Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Gahua Kiln Site is located in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China, and is one of the famous kilns of the Liao Dynasty (916–1125 AD).

The Gahua Kiln was first established in the early Liao period. The site covers a total area of approximately 3 to 5 square kilometers, with cultural deposits as thick as 1 to 4 meters. This kiln is well known for producing a diverse range of ceramics that feature distinctive traits of the nomadic Khitan people.

The discovery of the Gahua Kiln Site holds significant importance for the study of Khitan society, culture, economy, and the level of ceramic craftsmanship. (National Cultural Heritage Administration)
