The Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs at Siliang Middle School serves as a patriotic education base.

The Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs at Siliang Middle School is located on a small hillside next to the main playground of Siliang Middle School in Heping County.

Siliang Middle School in Heping County was founded in the spring of 1940 and is a comprehensive school with a proud revolutionary tradition. During the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War, teachers and students of the school carried out arduous struggles for the liberation of the Chinese nation, with a total of 27 revolutionary martyrs emerging. Some of the martyrs, such as Zhou Baoshi and Peng Zhendong, worked under the cover of being teachers, engaging in revolutionary activities while teaching. They devoted their entire lives to the revolution by combining teaching with underground operations. Other young students, such as Lin Kecheng, Xiao Qingshu, Xiao Bozhong, and Ye Gequan, actively joined the revolutionary cause, dedicating their youth to the fight against Japanese aggression and the liberation of the nation.

The monument was built in 2001. Its structure consists of three tiers, shaped like a rectangular tower with a flat top. The base measures 1.8 meters in length, 1.6 meters in width, and 5.2 meters in height. The tower is built with bricks and surfaced with stone plaster. The first tier features grooves outlining square brick patterns, while the second tier is inlaid with a granite stone tablet. The western face of the tablet bears the inscription of the monument’s preamble, and the other three faces display the names of the martyrs. The third tier features raised relief characters on the western side reading “Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs at Siliang Middle School” and on the eastern side reading “Revolutionary Martyrs Live Forever,” with the signature “People’s Government of Heping County.”

In January 2001, it was designated as a patriotic education base by the Heping County Committee and County Government. In January 2010, it was designated as a patriotic education base by the Heyuan Municipal Committee and Municipal Government.
