The most beautiful secret sunrise spot is now free and open to the public — a must-visit new attraction with breathtaking ocean views

Once selected as one of the world’s 21 best spots to watch the sunrise, Peace Island Park had been closed for safety concerns for six years. The North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration has now taken over management with an approach of coexisting with nature through outsourced operation and reopening. Relevant facilities have been tidied up, and it has been announced that operations will begin in 2018. During the preparation period, both Peace Island Park and its parking lot are free to use. Visitors looking to enjoy the stunning seascape and sunrises should seize the opportunity.

Since taking over management, the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration has successively improved outdoor water features, beaches, the park entrance, and other surrounding landscapes, as well as the parking lot. Indoor renovation work for the Peace Island Visitor Center is currently underway. Peace Island Park will remain free to enter until February 15, after which a small cleaning fee of NT$20 per person will be charged starting February 16.

During the free admission period at Peace Island Park, there will be one free guided tour service at 10:30 AM and another at 2:30 PM on national holidays, introducing the local natural environment and historical stories. In addition, lanterns left over from the Taiwan Lantern Festival will be used to create themed environmental decorations under the theme “Warm and Happy Coast,” fostering a cozy and romantic atmosphere on Peace Island.

Driving – Freeway No. 1: Exit at Keelung Interchange, go straight along Zhongzheng Rd., then turn left onto Zhengbin Rd., continue over Heping Bridge, go straight along He 1st Rd., and turn right onto Ping 1st Rd. to arrive.
