The North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, is organizing“Beautiful Heping Island in Keelung!” – 2017 North Guan Scenic Area Photography Contestfrom now until July 10. The total prize money is NT$250,000, and 64 selected works will be used for domestic and international tourism promotion. These works will also be exhibited at the 2017 Heping Island Sea Music Festival.

Once hailed as one of the Eight Views of Keelung, Heping Island is surrounded by the ruins-like Agana Shipyard, the bustling Heping Island Fishing Market, and a variety of historical buildings. The traces of Heping Island’s history await discovery by visitors. In addition, the island boasts rich natural landscapes and unique geological wonders, such as the famous Ten Thousand People Pile and Thousand-layer Rock. Under the backdrop of sunset or morning light, the scenery changes endlessly every moment, offering breathtaking beauty.

The North Guan Administration stated,that within the popular Heping Island Park, there are many geologically sensitive areas. To ensure visitor safety, some areas are currently under restricted access. Photographers who wish to shoot in these areas may apply to the North Guan Administration. When entering the park, please be mindful of tides and wave attacks, cliff rockfalls, slippery rocks and pathways to ensure your own safety,and avoid disturbing, posing with, or capturing wild animals if you encounter them. In addition to the photography contest, the North Guan Administration will also hold a Facebook “like and comment” lottery on its official page.
