Former Residence of Huang Huaming

The former residence of Huang Huaming is located in Xintian Village, Daba Town, Heping County.

Huang Huaming, originally named Huang Daoguan, was born in January 1920. In September 1939, he participated in anti-Japanese and national salvation propaganda work in Heping, and joined the Communist Party of China in February 1940. After September 1940, he served successively as Secretary of the Daba District Committee of the CPC, Deputy Special Commissioner of the County Committee, Special Commissioner, Propaganda Minister of the Lianhe Working Committee, and Committee Member of the Jiulian Mountain Area Working Committee. From spring 1942 to summer 1944, while serving as Secretary of the Daba District Committee of the CPC, he taught at the Cenggang Central Primary School. Using his position as a teacher as cover, he actively organized teachers and students to carry out anti-Japanese salvation propaganda, mobilized local residents to resist taxes and levies, and utilized the legal status of the “Industrial Cooperative” to establish night schools for farmers to promote the Party’s principles. In June 1946, he was transferred to the Dongjiang Column and participated in the Northern Withdrawal. He took part in the Eastern Henan Campaign, the Battle of Jinan, and the Huaihai Campaign, and later advanced southward with the Guangdong-Guangxi Column to liberate Guangdong. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he served as Secretary of the Suixi County Committee, Vice President of the Zhanjiang Agricultural College, and Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. He passed away in Guangzhou in January 1997.

The residence was originally built in 1902, featuring an earth-wood-brick-tile structure. It covers an area of 5,000 square meters, faces west with its back to the east, and is nestled against a mountain and beside water. There is a front yard, and the area in front of the courtyard features lush farmland and flowing river water, offering a beautiful environment.

In January 2012, it was included in the Heping County Register of Immovable Cultural Relics for Protection.

Daba Town: Daba Town is located 8 kilometers north of Heping County. It borders Shangling Town to the north, neighbors Yousheng Town to the east, connects to Yangming Town to the south, and adjoins Reshui Town to the west. Covering an area of 164 square kilometers, it governs 15 administrative villages and 1 residential committee, with a population of 38,000, 95% of whom are engaged in agriculture.
