The former residence of Fang Hua is located in Shanglou Natural Village, Zhongxing Village, Reshui Town, Heping County.

Fang Hua (1912–1999), originally named Luo Xiang, was a native of Zhongxing Village, Reshui Town, Heping County. He joined the revolutionary movement in 1932 and became a member of the Communist Party of China in May 1938. In his early years, he actively sought the truth of saving the nation and its people. Together with Zhang Jueqing and others, he founded Donghua Primary School in Reshui, established night schools for farmers, organized peasant movements, and became one of the leaders of the revolutionary movement in the Jiulian area. In August 1938, the first Party branch in Heping County was established, with Fang Hua serving as the branch secretary. In February 1939, he became the secretary of the Heping County Working Committee of the CPC. In May, he was appointed secretary of the Heping County Committee of the CPC. In September, he was elected as a delegate to the 7th National Congress of the CPC. In October, he was transferred to work at the Longchuan Central County Committee of the CPC. In 1945, after attending the 7th National Congress in Yan’an, he held positions such as head of the Organization Department of the Fushun Municipal Committee of the CPC and chairman of the Andong City Federation of Trade Unions. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he served in various roles including secretary and mayor of the Zhanjiang Municipal Committee of the CPC, secretary and general manager of the Maoming Petroleum Corporation, and secretary of the Maoming Municipal Committee of the CPC. He stepped down from frontline duties in 1983, retired in 1986 (enjoying medical and living benefits at the vice-provincial level), and passed away in Guangzhou in July 1999.

The residence was originally built during the Qing Dynasty. It faces southeast and is built in a square, enclosed “courtyard house” (回字形方围屋) layout, with watchtowers at each of the four corners. It has a total width of 27 meters and a depth of 31 meters, covering an area of 826 square meters. It follows a two-courtyard, two-wing, one-enclosure layout. The structure is made of earth, timber, brick, and tile, with a flush gable roof and gray tiles. The wall base is made of pebbles, and the walls are constructed with mud bricks. The central front part is a hall, with side rooms to the left and rear. A ring of square rooms surrounds the central hall, with a central skywell in between. There is a front courtyard in front of the house, and beyond that lies a semicircular pond.

In January 2010, it was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit by the Heping County Government.
