Former Site of the Communication Station of the Guangdong-Guangxi Border Detachment

The communication station of the Guangdong-Guangxi Border Detachment is located in Wawu Natural Village, Qunlian Village, Pengzhai Town, Heping County.

During the Liberation War, revolutionary mother Liang Shuidi (locally known as "Auntie Xiao") and her three sons all joined the revolution, turning their home and ancestral hall into hiding places and a communication station for the guerrillas. The Guangdong-Guangxi Border Detachment used this communication station to transmit messages and intelligence. From June to August 1948, all three of Auntie Xiao’s sons sacrificed their lives heroically in battle, and the house was burned down by the Kuomintang. Rather than being crushed, this only strengthened Auntie Xiao’s resolve. Enduring her grief, she resolutely joined the guerrilla forces, treated the unit as her home, and devoted herself to caring for the wounded and sick, making significant contributions to the revolution.

This former site is the ancestral hall of the Xiao family, built during the Qing Dynasty. It faces west and covers an area of 101 square meters, with a width of three bays (9.2 meters) and a depth of two bays plus a central courtyard (11 meters). It features a brick, wood, and stone structure, with brick and stone foundations, earthen brick walls coated with lime plaster, a flush gable roof, and a cement floor. There is a front yard, and on the south side there used to be a row of bungalows that were the former residence of the “Three Heroes of the Xiao Family,” which were burned down by the Kuomintang before liberation.

In January 2012, it was included in the Heping County Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage Protection Sites.
