Former Site of the Military and Political Cadres Training Class of the Jiulian Working Committee

The former site of the Military and Political Cadres Training Class of the Jiulian Working Committee is located in Yongxingwei, Yongfeng Village, Qingzhou Town, Heping County.

In November 1946, the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, in accordance with directives from the Central Committee, decided to resume armed struggle. In March 1947, the Jiulian Working Committee of the CCP moved to Yongfeng Village in Qingzhou. As the situation of the struggle developed, both the army and local authorities urgently needed a large number of grassroots cadres. In June 1947, the Jiulian Working Committee established a military and political cadres training class in Yongxingwei, Yongfeng Village, Qingzhou, to train revolutionary cadres from Heping County. A total of four sessions were held by March of the following year. Students came from Xingning, Wuhua, Heping, Lianping, Heyuan, Xinfeng, as well as Jiangxi’s Longnan, Dingnan, and Quannan, totaling more than 350 people. The training class was led by Deng Ji, Huang Zhuchang, Dong Shiyang, Wei Hongtao, Wen Hua, and Liang Shan. Wei Nanjin, Zhong Junxian, Deng Ji, and Zeng Zhiyun respectively taught courses such as "Current Situation and Tasks," "A Brief History of Social Development," "History of the Chinese Communist Party," as well as Mao Zedong’s "On the Ten Major Principles of Military Strategy" and "How to Analyze Rural Classes." The training class trained a large number of revolutionary cadres for Heping, promoting the development of the revolutionary cause.

This former site is a local ancestral hall of the Liu family, covering an area of 1,064 square meters, with a width of 52 meters and a depth of three courtyards interspersed with a 28-meter courtyard. It has a structure of earth, wood, brick, and tile, with mud-brick walls, a flush gable roof, and a layout of three courtyards and two wings. There is one main gate per row, featuring a recessed entrance gatehouse, with central upper, middle, and lower halls, a courtyard in between, and a large front yard in front of the gate.

In January 2012, it was included in the Heping County Register of Immovable Cultural Relics.
