Former Site of the Shihan Branch of the Communist Party of China

The former site of the Shihan Branch of the Communist Party of China is located at Yucheng Primary School in Shihan Village, Xiache Town, Heping County.

In the winter of 1938, Zhou Baoshi, a member of the Communist Party of China and then a committee member of the “Heping County Anti-Enemy Support Association,” frequently visited the school to carry out anti-Japanese propaganda activities. In the spring of 1939, Xu Ziqing was introduced to the Party by Zhou Baoshi. That winter, teachers Xu Sheng’an and Xu Shenghua were also recruited into the Party, and the Shihan Branch of the Communist Party of China was established, with Xu Ziqing serving as the branch secretary. From then on, Yucheng Primary School became a base for revolutionary activities in Xiache Town. Using their legitimate status as teachers as cover, they carried out the anti-Japanese salvation movement, conducted anti-Japanese propaganda, and contributed to the victory of the war.

The former site was originally the ancestral hall of the Xu family in Shihan Village. Built in 1919, it covers an area of about 100 square meters and is a two-story brick-and-wood structure building. Before liberation, it was called “Shihan Fort National Primary School,” and after liberation, it was renamed Yucheng Primary School. During the “Pujiu” housing reform period, it was reconstructed into a two-story concrete school building.

In January 2012, it was included in the Heping County Inventory of Immovable Cultural Relics.
