Andriyivskyy Descent

Located at the junction of the Upper and Lower Towns of ancient Kyiv, this is a historic cultural street in Kyiv, named after the St. Andrew's Church on the street. During the time of Kievan Rus', artisans and small traders lived in the Lower Town, making it a hub for the trade of handicrafts. Its style is similar to Moscow’s Arbat Street. The street is lined with various stalls stacked with a dazzling array of wooden, silver, and stone handicrafts, as well as Soviet-era pins, cameras, telescopes, and other second-hand goods. Of course, the most distinctive feature is the paintings displayed along the street. It is said that the area was once home to painters, musicians, writers, and all kinds of self-taught enthusiasts dabbling in the mysterious world of art. Features: The street has now been restored to its original appearance from the last century. Along the way, there are craft workshops and art salons selling a variety of Ukrainian ethnic handicrafts and souvenirs.
