A favorite spot for couples to visit: Ukraine’s stunning natural “Tunnel of Love”

Ukraine – Klevan “Tunnel of Love”
Located in a town about 350 km from the capital, Kyiv, locals call this the “Tunnel of Love.” This naturally formed tunnel looks almost magical and is truly breathtaking. Stretching 3 km in length, it is actually a railway line used by a local company to transport goods, and it has also become one of the most beloved romantic spots for couples around the world.

Transportation to the scenic spot
First, take a flight from Taiwan to Kyiv, Ukraine. Including transfer time, it takes about 17 hours. Then, take a bus or train from Kyiv to your final destination: the town called “Klevan.” Since you’ll arrive in Kyiv late at night, spend the first night there, and then take a bus the next day from the bus terminal (Автовокзал) to Klevan. If you prefer to take the train, you can transfer from Kyiv Railway Station to Kovel, and finally reach Klevan. As the “Tunnel of Love” is still some distance from the Klevan station, it’s recommended to take a taxi. Sample itinerary:
Day 1/2 Taipei → Transfer via Amsterdam → Arrive in Kyiv the next day Day 3 Kyiv → Travel overland (by bus or train) to Klevan and stay overnight Day 4 Stay another night in Klevan Day 5 Klevan → Kyiv Day 6 Kyiv → Transfer via Amsterdam → Day 7 Return to Taipei

Recommended season: Summer
The Tunnel of Love is a tunnel over 1 km long, naturally formed by the growth of trees. The best season for sightseeing is, of course, the lush greenery of summer. The scenery here changes throughout the seasons, but the green tunnel offers the most romantic atmosphere.

Approximately NT$80,000 (including airfare, fuel surcharge, departure tax, and accommodation).

Travel precautions
The Tunnel of Love was originally created for the passage of 1 to 3 daily freight trains (transporting timber to Klevan station) through the primeval forest, so the area is densely wooded. When visiting, be sure to watch out for insect bites and check in advance how to get back to the station after viewing the tunnel. While it is now a well-known tourist spot and taxis are usually available, if you visit during the off-season or at night when it’s quite deserted, please take extra care.

Recommended side trips
Since you’re already in Ukraine, be sure to spend a night in Kyiv. The city has many famous attractions; during the day you can visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, or go to the opera house to enjoy a performance.
