The colorful Formosa Boulevard Station is a famous tourist attraction in Kaohsiung. Its stunning glass mosaic art is a renowned masterpiece and is often hailed by foreign media as one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world. Recently, the American magazine Popular Mechanics published a feature article introducing the world's 7 most stunning metro stations, and Taiwan’s Formosa Boulevard Station made the list — the only one from Asia.

The Dome of Light inside Formosa Boulevard Station was personally designed by internationally renowned artist Narcissus Quagliata. It is the world’s largest single-piece glass public art installation formed in one piece, and its circular structure also makes it the largest underground station building in the world. Popular Mechanics noted that the vibrant stained-glass windows of Formosa Boulevard Station are not only suitable for churches but can also be applied to public architecture.

The other six metro stations introduced by Popular Mechanics include the Königsplatz Station in Munich, Germany; the Toledo Metro Art Station in Naples, Italy; Stockholm Central Station in Sweden; the Arts et Métiers Station in Paris, France; the Kievskaya Station in Moscow, Russia; and the only American entry — New York City Hall Station in the United States.
