Seven Stunning Metro Stations Worldwide – Taiwan’s Station Is Asia’s Only Entry

The colorful Formosa Boulevard Station is a famous tourist attraction in Kaohsiung. Its stunning glass mosaic art is a renowned masterpiece and is often praised by foreign media as one of the most beautiful stations in the world. Recently, the American magazine Popular Mechanics published a feature article introducing the world’s seven most stunning metro stations, and Taiwan’s Formosa Boulevard Station was also listed — the only metro station in Asia to make the cut.

The Dome of Light inside Formosa Boulevard Station was personally designed by internationally renowned artist Narcissus Quagliata. It is the world’s largest single-piece, cast-in-place glass public artwork, and its circular structure also makes it the world’s largest underground station architecture. Popular Mechanics noted that the vibrant stained-glass windows of Formosa Boulevard Station are not only suitable for churches but can also be applied to public buildings.

The other six metro stations introduced by Popular Mechanics include Germany’s Munich Königsplatz Station, Italy’s Naples Toledo Metro Art Station, Sweden’s Stockholm Central Station, France’s Paris Arts et Métiers Station, Russia’s Moscow Metro Kievskaya Station; as well as the only station in the Americas to be featured — New York City Hall Station in the United States.
