Arabic airline enters Taiwan in February, flights to Europe via Dubai for NT$26,000 including tax

An Arabic airline is entering Taiwan, with its maiden flight just seven weeks away. At its launch event in Taipei today (19th), the airline announced ticket prices from Taipei via Dubai to European destinations for just NT$26,000 including tax, offering travelers access to European countries through Dubai. The competitive pricing is expected to shake up Taiwan’s airline market.

Emirates will begin operating daily direct flights between Taipei and Dubai starting February 10, 2014, marking the first direct route between Taipei and the Middle East. Taiwanese travelers will be able to use the airline to fly to Europe, Africa, and other regions via Dubai. Future travelers from Taipei will be able to use Dubai as a transit hub to fly directly to 70 countries in the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Europe. Liu Jung-chu stated that promotional plans for Taiwan will begin in the various countries along the UAE route, with the hope of attracting more visitors

The UAE airline's Taipei route is operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. First class features 8 luxurious private suites, business class offers 42 fully flat seats, and economy class provides spacious seating for 304 passengers. Passengers in all classes can enjoy gourmet meals and are served by UAE nationalities cabin crew. For in-flight entertainment, the airline offers its award-winning ice inflight entertainment system, featuring over 1,600 channels with the latest blockbuster films, subtitled Hollywood movies, music, TV programs, and games.

桃机公司营运副总经理魏胜之也表示，2014年2月，阿联酋航空进驻机场第一航厦，营运桃园迪拜航线，届时第一航厦部分整建完毕，也将交给阿联酋使用。

阿联酋航空以迪拜为据点，目前营运138航点，遍布78个国家。今年稍早，阿联酋航空开通了飞往华沙、阿尔及亚、日本羽田、菲律宾克拉克、米兰－纽约的大西洋航班、柯那克里、巴基斯坦锡亚尔科特，以及阿富汗喀布尔的航班。2014年初，阿联酋航空首先将开通飞往基辅的航班，并在台北航线首航后，于3月10日起营运飞往波士顿的航班。
