Arch of Friendship

The Arch of Friendship is located in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It was officially opened to the public in 1982 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the 1500th anniversary of Kyiv's establishment. It also symbolizes the eternal friendship between the people of Russia and Ukraine.

The Arch of Friendship is composed of three sculptural elements, an arch, and a two-figure sculpture. The arch has a diameter of 50 meters, is shaped like a rainbow, and is made of titanium. Beneath the rainbow-shaped arch is a bronze sculpture depicting two workers from Russia and Ukraine. Above their heads is a shared People’s Friendship Medal, representing the unbreakable bond of friendship between the two nations. In the evening, the Arch of Friendship becomes especially stunning under the lights, resembling a beautiful rainbow suspended in the sky, shining brilliantly.
