The Kiev Museum of the Great Patriotic War is located on the right bank of the ancient Dnipro River in the Pechersk district of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It was established to commemorate the Great Patriotic War (the Soviet-German War) from 1941 to 1945, opened to the public in 1981, and has become a popular attraction for tourists, with 21 million visitors to date.

The Museum of the Great Patriotic War is one of the largest museums in Ukraine, housing a collection of up to 300,000 items. The 62-meter-tall "Mother Motherland" statue located outside the museum has become one of Kyiv's most iconic landmarks. The statue holds a shield in one hand and a sword in the other, symbolizing the Ukrainian people’s determination and resolve to defend their homeland. The exterior of the museum features a magnificent ensemble of sculptures and architectural art that depicts scenes of soldiers fighting the enemy during the war. In addition, several tanks are displayed for visitors. Inside the museum, there are over 8,000 exhibits from World War II, along with numerous paintings and sculptures that document the immortal achievements of the Ukrainian people during the war. The atmosphere inside the memorial is steeped in a sense of time travel. The wreckage of aircraft, brutal instruments of torture, and the tattered clothes worn by children in concentration camps expose the cruelty of Nazi fascism; victory flags, gleaming medals, and the indomitable spirit of the people reflect the radiance of triumph.

On the second floor of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, there is a hall filled with wartime photographs. Thousands of black-and-white photos form two staggered walls of images, creating a powerful visual impact.
