Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi is a small city in Ukraine, located in the Kyiv Oblast, 95 kilometers south of Kyiv. This is a city with a very long history, an ancient town that already existed during the era of Kievan Rus. In 1943, it was renamed to its current name in honor of the famous Ukrainian politician Bohdan Khmelnytsky.

As an ancient city, Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi has many historic buildings and museums that are absolutely not to be missed. The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life mainly exhibits Ukrainian architecture and traditions from ancient times to the 19th century, and includes several branch museums such as the Bread Museum, Road Transport Museum, Space Exploration Museum, Postal Service Museum, Beekeeping Museum, Ukrainian Traditional Costume Museum, and Museum of Applied and Decorative Arts. Historical architectural sites dating back to the 10th–11th centuries, the Saint Michael’s Church from 1646 to 1666, and the Ascension Monastery built between 1695 and 1700 are also worth exploring in detail.
