John F. Kennedy National Historic Site & Library
Introduction The grand-sounding title of the John F. Kennedy National Historic Site refers to an unassuming little house on the outskirts of Brookline Village. It has been restored to look as it did on May 29, 1917, the day of Kennedy’s birth. Most of the items, furniture, and furnishings inside belong to the Kennedy family. The Kennedys lived in this house until 1920, and it is now managed by the National Park Service. The house features exhibits about Kennedy’s life and a small bookstore. Perhaps even more interesting is the Kennedy Library. It houses all of Kennedy’s documents and televised speeches, along with a lesser-known collection that includes 95% of Ernest Hemingway’s works. The site consists of nine exhibition halls related to Kennedy, the library, and the archives building.
