Founded in 1975, the Deauville American Film Festival was originally a non-competitive festival showcasing American films. It wasn’t until its 20th edition in 1995 that the festival introduced an awards jury, which includes awards such as the Grand Prize of the American Film Festival, the Committee Award, and the New Talent Award (Michel d'Ornano).

The 41st Deauville American Film Festival in 2015 will kick off its nine-day event on September 3rd and conclude on September 13th. Alongside the screening of over a hundred American films and the mandatory awards ceremony on the final day, the 41st edition will also feature a competition for American independent films.
