Founded in 1975, the Deauville American Film Festival was originally a non-competitive event dedicated to American cinema. It wasn’t until its 20th edition in 1995 that the festival introduced an awards committee, which presented awards such as the Grand Prize of the American Film Festival, the Committee Award, and the Best New Talent Award (Michel-d'Ornano).

The 41st Deauville American Film Festival in 2015 will kick off on September 3rd with a nine-day run ending on September 13th. Alongside screenings of over 100 American films and the mandatory awards ceremony on the final day, the 41st edition will also feature a competition for American independent films.
