Itinerary: Around 4–6 hours.     Introduction: Hoover Dam is located in the northwest of Arizona and can be reached by driving about 40 kilometers southeast from Las Vegas. When the dam was completed in 1936, Republican leader Hoover was in office, hence the dam was named after him. It is an arch-gravity concrete dam, standing 220 meters high, 200 meters wide at the base, 14 meters wide at the top, and 377 meters long. Such a massive dam is rare in the world, resembling a giant dragon lying across the land, appearing majestic. After its completion, the dam played a significant role in the development of industry and agriculture. The reservoir of Hoover Dam is the famous Lake Mead. With its vast, endless blue waters, Lake Mead is the largest artificial lake in the Western Hemisphere. It not only boasts beautiful scenery but also irrigates crops and generates hydroelectric power, playing a vital role in production development. The generating capacity of Hoover Dam is 1,345 megawatts, supplying power to most areas in the southwestern part of the Pacific coast, demonstrating the immense contribution of the Hoover Dam. 　

Notes: To better enjoy your visit, it is recommended to arrive before 0 PM. Visitors cannot access the top of the dam after dark. Hoover Dam is located in a dry desert area, and it gets very hot in the summer. It is advised to wear light clothing, bring a hat and sunglasses. Be sure to carry enough drinking water.     Transportation – Self-driving: For visitors staying north of the STRIP or in downtown: At the southern end of North Las Vegas Boulevard (near South Las Vegas Boulevard), turn onto Highway 515 and head southeast, then connect to Highway 93 and continue driving to reach Hoover Dam. For visitors staying in the center or south of the STRIP: Head south (or north) on the STRIP to find Flamingo Road (FLAMINGO RD) or Tropicana Road (TROPICANA -E), turn east, look for the Highway 515 sign, then get on Highway 515 heading southeast, with the route the same as described above.
