Introduction

Monument Valley is not actually a valley, but a landscape built upon a vast flat plain: towering red buttes and spires rise hundreds of feet. Sedimentary rock layers once covered the entire area, and these are the last remnants.

Monument Valley is an enduring symbol of the American West. The striking red mesas stand isolated in the desert, primarily featuring unique sandstone formations, Navajo tribal land, and the Four Corners Monument. Visiting here offers a chance to explore the history of the American West and learn about Native American heritage.

Notes: 1. Gathering firewood is prohibited. 2. Campers may only build fires in designated areas. 3. Camping, hunting, fishing, and research activities require prior permission.    Admission / Opening Hours: Adults $5, free for children under 9.    Opening Hours: May–September: 6:00 am – 8:00 pm; October–April: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Closed on Christmas Day
