Wind Cave National Park:

Located among the rolling hills about 10 miles north of Hot Springs in South Dakota, USA. The park is home to a world-renowned cave, named for the powerful air currents that constantly rush in and out of its entrance; however, inside the cave, it is calm, windless, and pleasantly cool, with temperatures typically around 8°C. This wind cave has very few of the usual stalactites and stalagmites found in typical caves, but instead features rare boxwork and frostwork formations. Boxwork consists of calcite crystal structures that display a range of vivid colors—from bright yellow to pale red, light brown, and deep blue. Frostwork is made up of countless tiny, transparent crystal needles that form along the cave’s ceiling and walls. When illuminated by the cave’s lighting, the boxwork glows with intense red hues, while the frostwork sparkles like countless glittering jewels, creating a breathtaking spectacle. In 1903, the area around the cave was designated as a national park, encompassing approximately 25,000 acres. The rest of the park's land has been set aside as a protected habitat for American bison, deer, antelope, prairie dogs, and other wildlife, all of which are under strict and effective conservation efforts.
