Mudeungsan Provincial Park

Mudeungsan Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,187 meters, located between the eastern edge of Gwangju Metropolitan City and Danyang. It exudes an indescribably gentle atmosphere. Visible from within Gwangju, it has long been referred to as the “guardian deity of Gwangju.” The name “Mudeungsan” likely originates from the fact that its three peaks are of nearly equal height, hence the name meaning “mountain without ranks.” The mountaintop area is a treasure trove of alpine plants. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the mountain base by bus. Since being designated as a provincial park in 1972, various convenience facilities have been established at the foot of the mountain.

Transportation: A bus ride from Gwangju Station takes 40 minutes, with buses departing every 1 hour and 20 minutes.
