Explore Six Major Amusement Parks in Taiwan and Korea with "Running Man"

The Korean variety show "Running Man" recently visited Taiwan for the first time to film an episode of the "1470 Amusement Park" special, causing a sensation among Taiwanese fans with their whirlwind itinerary. In the amusement park special, the hosts and guests first took on challenges at five famous amusement parks in Korea before concluding their journey at Taiwan's Leofoo Village Theme Park to complete the final mission. The thrilling and adrenaline-pumping challenges had the celebrities screaming in fright. Now, let’s take a look back at the six amusement parks featured in the "Running Man" special.

Incheon, South Korea – Wolmi My Land
Spanning a large area of 4,000 pyeong, Wolmi My Land is located on Yeongjongdo’s Wolmido Island. In the "Running Man" special, hosts Kim Jong-kook and guest Kim Tae-woo had to complete a mission on a pirate ship. The pirate ship at Wolmi My Land is one story taller than the typical two-story version, making it one of the most thrilling rides in Korea. Additionally, the Disco Pang Pang ride at Wolmi My Land is another classic attraction that was also featured in another Korean variety show, "We Got Married."

Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea – Tongdo Fantasia
Tongdo Fantasia is the largest theme park in the Yeongnam region. Its roller coaster, which stands 40 meters high at its peak, stretches 920 meters over a lake and features three inversion sections along with two consecutive 360-degree loops. It’s the ride where the so-called “Monday Couple” — Gary and Korean singer Ailee — took on a high-altitude karaoke challenge. Meanwhile, hosts HaHa and Skull rode the APOLLO, a 360-degree spinning ride that completely turns your world upside down. Not only has "Running Man" filmed at Tongdo Fantasia, but the park’s Ferris wheel was also the romantic filming location for the popular idol drama "My Love from the Star," where supporting actor Park Hae-jin confessed his love to actress Jun Ji-hyun’s character, and lead actor Kim Soo-hyun paused time just to gaze at her.

Gyeonggi-do, South Korea – Seoul Land 
Located in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do, Seoul Land is less than an hour’s drive from the city center and is also accessible by subway. It consists of five themed zones: World Plaza, Adventure World, Fantasy World, Future World, and Samcheong Milim Forest. Among them, the “SKY X” ride in Future World is arguably the most thrilling attraction at Seoul Land. Combining bungee jumping and skydiving, riders are lifted 50 meters into the air before plummeting down rapidly, then repeatedly ascending and descending, causing screams from cast members Song Ji-hyo and 2AM’s Im Seulong, the vocal powerhouse.

Gwangju, South Korea – Gwangju Uchi Park
The well-known “CHAOS” ride at Gwangju Uchi Park was tackled by "Running Man" cast member Lee Kwang-soo and actor Ji Chang-wook, who stars in the hit drama "Empress Ki" as Emperor Yuan. This double 360-degree spinning ride truly lives up to its name, leaving riders completely dizzy. Aside from the amusement park, Uchi Park also features a zoo and a botanical garden.

Gyeonggi-do, South Korea – Everland
Covering over 4.5 million pyeong, Everland is located in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, and is divided into five themed zones: Global Fair, American Adventure, Magic Land, European Adventure, and Zoo Topia. Host Yoo Jae-suk, known as Korea’s “Nation’s MC,” and actor Lee Sung-jae rode the T EXPRESS, said to have the steepest slope in the world and the first wooden roller coaster in Korea. They sped down a 77-degree incline at speeds up to 104 km/h, with the entire ride lasting three minutes. No wonder it took them three tries to complete the mission. Another duo, host Ji Sang-ryeol and Song Eun-i, took on the “Let’s Twist,” a ride that spins and flips riders nearly 20 meters above the ground.

Hsinchu, Taiwan – Leofoo Village Theme Park
Finally, "Running Man" made its first visit to the beautiful island of Taiwan, with Leofoo Village Theme Park as the grand finale. The hosts and guests who hadn’t completed their missions boarded a plane — but not for a reward — they came all the way to receive a punishment: taking on Taiwan’s iconic ride, Leofoo’s “Sky Falcon.” In the episode aired on September 7th evening, viewers could see the "Running Man" cast members, with their feet dangling, screaming in terror as they experienced the 360-degree spiral climb and a 90-degree vertical freefall, reaching a top speed of 122 km/h.
