Making an Appearance at the Korea (Gwangju) China Cultural Festival
From November 14 to November 30, 2014, China Intercontinental Press successfully held the "Strolling through China: 2014 China (Gwangju) Cultural Festival in Korea" event in Gwangju, South Korea. The festival integrated cultural exhibitions, artistic performances, image promotion, and people-to-people exchange activities, bringing an authentic and captivating image of China directly to the people of Gwangju, South Korea.
At this cultural festival, the "Mangrove Cup" Charming Wetlands "Beautiful Beihai" Photography Competition Exhibition, organized by the News Office of Beihai City, Guangxi, showcased to Korean audiences the achievements of Beihai’s ecological civilization construction and the city’s unique charm, greatly sparking their strong interest in learning about and understanding Beihai.

The 60 selected works in the exhibition were all masterpieces, including outstanding pieces shot by local Beihai photographers capturing their hometown's beauty, excellent entries from photography enthusiasts and travelers who participated in the competition, as well as professional works by eight renowned domestic and international photographers who took part in the outdoor shooting activities of the competition. These photographic works presented the beautiful scenery, cultural landscapes, and local customs of Beihai—the pearl of the Beibu Gulf—from various perspectives: the century-old Beihai Old Street, the Catholic Church on Weizhou Island that witnesses the blending of Eastern and Western cultures, the long stretches of silver beaches, the towering Gaode Bridge, the Star Lake dotted with thousands of islets and reefs, the daily life scenes of fishermen who make their living from the sea… and naturally, the mangrove wetlands, which have been honored as one of China’s "Top Ten Charming Wetlands." These wetlands serve as a natural barrier between the sea and the land, and are also a paradise for the breeding and habitation of numerous marine creatures.
The audience lingered in front of these exquisite images, offering endless praise, and many took out their phones to take photos as keepsakes. Some, not wanting the experience to end, returned several times to appreciate the works more closely. Interestingly, Mr. Taerin Kim, a renowned Korean photographer who participated in the outdoor shooting event of the competition, was also present at the scene, vividly sharing his amazing encounters in Beihai with his fellow Koreans, always surrounded by a crowd. Many people expressed on the spot that their next travel destination in China would be Beihai.
The "Strolling through China: Mangrove Cup" Charming Wetlands "Beautiful Beihai" Photography Competition is currently in full swing, inviting submissions from photography professionals and enthusiasts nationwide. The submissions should primarily showcase the beautiful ecological environment of the Beihai mangrove wetlands in Guangxi and the urban scenery of Beihai. The submission deadline is January 31, 2015.
