Complete Guide to Korea’s Mid-Autumn Festival Events in September – Busan Even Has a “Train to Busan” Experience

Aside from China and Taiwan, South Korea also celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival. This year, Korea has designated September 10 to 18 as the “Mid-Autumn Culture & Tourism Week,” with a series of cultural festivals and experience activities taking place in cities such as Incheon, Daegu, and Busan. Among them, Busan is also offering a zombie hunter interactive event themed around the movie “Train to Busan.” In addition to experiencing Korean Mid-Autumn culture, visitors can also catch up with movie trends.

[Incheon]
From September 14 to 18, wear a hanbok to ride the city tour bus for free in the Incheon metropolitan area.
From September 14 to 18, enjoy seasonal folk games at the Ganghwa History Museum.

[Daegu]
On September 11, the special Mid-Autumn Festival event “The Moon Is Smiling” will be held at Ansim Neighborhood Park, featuring parades and traditional folk performances.
From September 14 to 18, a special Mid-Autumn cultural event will take place at the outdoor plaza of the Haesong Hall at the National Museum of Daegu.
From September 14 to 16, folk performances will be held at Gukjeboesang Memorial Park, February 28 Memorial Central Park, and Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park.
From September 14 to 16, Mid-Autumn experience activities will be hosted at the Daegu Cultural Arts Center.
From September 14 to 18, traditional Mid-Autumn folk performances will be held at the Daegu Science Museum.
On September 17, the Gyeongsang Gamyeong Customs Revival Event will take place at Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park.

[Gwangju]
From September 14 to 18, a special Mid-Autumn Festival folk culture event will be held at the Gwangju Suri Folk Museum.
On September 10, a seasonal customs experience activity for the Mid-Autumn Festival will be held at the Seochang Traditional Hanok Cultural Experience Hall.

[Busan]
From September 10 to 18, a special “Grand Launch of Grandpa and Grandma Storytellers” event will take place across the Busan metropolitan area.
From August 12 to September 30, a “Train to Busan” zombie hunter stamp rally will be held at Busan Station, International Market, and Gamcheon Culture Village.

[Ulsan]
On September 9, a songpyeon (rice cake) making experience and cultural performance will be held at the Donghyeon Front Square in Ulsan.
From September 15 to 17, a special traditional Mid-Autumn festival performance event will take place at the Donghyeon Front Square in Ulsan.
From September 14 to 18, traditional culture activities will be held at the Daegu Museum.
From September 15 to 17, traditional culture activities will be held in the lobby and outdoor square of the Ulsan Museum.

[Gyeonggi]
From September 8 to 10 and September 14 to 16, seasonal customs – Mid-Autumn Festival activities will be held at the Suwon Traditional Culture Hall.
From September 9 to 18, traditional game experiences will be available at the Suwon Museum.
From September 9 to 18, Mid-Autumn traditional game activities will be held at the Suwon Gwanggyo Museum.
A special Mid-Autumn Festival sharing event will be held at Goyang Cultural Center on September 17.
The Great Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration will take place at Korean Folk Village from September 3 to September 18.

[Gangwon]
The Sokcho City Museum will host a Mid-Autumn folk experience event on September 15.
The Jeseon Arirang Market in Jeongseon will hold Arirang performances from September 15 to September 16.
The Yanggu Prehistoric Museum and the Modern History Museum will offer traditional Mid-Autumn play experiences from September 14 to September 18.

[South Chungcheong]
Traditional experience programs will be available at Gongju Hanok Village from September 14 to September 18.
Folk events welcoming the Mid-Autumn Festival will take place at Seosan Hwaseong Fortress from September 15 to September 16.

[North Gyeongsang]
From September 14 to September 16, the Hyangchon Hanok Village will offer traditional folk play experiences along with a Gyeongju National Gugak performance tour.
An experience event will be held at the Andong Hahoe Village Folk Play Square on September 16.
The Andong Folk Museum will host a Mid-Autumn seasonal customs and folk play experience event from September 14 to September 18.
Traditional play experiences will be offered at the Huguk Peace Memorial Hall to welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival from September 14 to September 18.

[South Gyeongsang]
The Bingsin Year Masan Daily Festival will be held around Changwon Daily Park from September 16 to September 18.
The Jinju Museum will hold Mid-Autumn cultural activities from September 14 to September 18.

[North Jeolla]
On September 16, a “New Governor’s Arrival” performance will take place between Namwon Love Square and Gwanghalluwon Garden.
An outdoor stage Mid-Autumn “play performance” event will be held at Namwon Love Square on September 15.

[South Jeolla]
Traditional performances will be held at Nagan Eupseong Fortress from September 13 to September 18.
Traditional games will be featured at Suncheon Bay National Garden from September 14 to September 18.
