Art Museums Become New IG Hotspots – Social Spaces Showcase Visual Art

Following the interactive art exhibition TeamLab at Huashan 1914 Creative Park, which pioneered the trend, multimedia interaction has gradually become one of the future directions. Recently, the "Social Arena" held at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum created an interactive art experience, reinterpreting the relationship between audience and art through innovative methods, opening up an unprecedented experience.

Continuing the 2016 cross-border collaboration between the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Gwangju Museum of Art in South Korea, this year’s exchange exhibition grandly opened under the theme "Social Arena." Co-organized by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and veteran curators from South Korea, the exhibition transformed the museum space into a creative experimental field where "display" and "performance" coexist. Artists used "performance" as the main axis of the exhibition, echoing the creative spirit of our time, and employed a completely open form of expression, hoping to open up an unprecedented new perspective for the audience’s artistic experience.

"Social Arena" metaphorically reflects how art creation in today’s global context, under the name and purpose of "exchange," allows works from diverse backgrounds to appear within different cultural and temporal settings. The exhibition title points to the unique artistic performance context of modern cross-border exchanges and also resonates with the "Universiade," thereby leading the museum into a dialogue with the city.
