Since its launch in June, the “2017 Taipei Riverside Music Festival” reaches its grand finale this week with “Tamsui Lover’s Day.” This edition of the event goes international, featuring Japanese crooner Kousuke Atari, Malaysian singer-songwriter Clover Liu, Taiwanese veteran diva Jin Zhijuan, as well as popular local reggae band MATZKA, who will each perform youthful hits from different eras.
Highlighting a diverse and cross-genre musical style, this year’s fireworks revolve around the theme of “youthful dance music.” The musical arrangement once again comes from China Blue band leader Wu Jianhui, who remixes Western classics and Mandarin/Taiwanese pop hits such as “Moon River,” “Love Limited Edition,” “Thinking of You Every Day,” and “Sunshine Everyday” into a fresh new soundscape. Special “river drift bottle” and “LOVE” fireworks designs have also been created. The 600-second firework spectacular invites both locals and visitors to share a romantic evening along Taipei’s summer riverside.

The event will also feature a children’s play area and food truck zone, ensuring fun and food for all ages from afternoon through the evening—perfect for creating lasting summer memories. Wearing bright red festive clothing can even earn you a limited-edition “Lovesick Drift Bottle” blessed by the Moon God from Xiadah City God Temple. Additionally, the ‘Follow the River to Travel – Stamp & Win’ event will draw ten lucky winners on the main stage during Tamsui Lover’s Day on August 26. Prizes include a 3-day, 2-night Star Cruises voyage, classic ukuleles, and vintage turntables.
Traffic control measures will be in place around the Tamsui Pier. Residents are encouraged to use public transportation to get there. Also, note that from 00:00 on August 25 to 24:00 on August 26, the barbecue and picnic areas, facilities, and bicycle rental services between Guilin (Danshui Gate 1) and Dunhuang (Danshui Gate 6) evacuation gates at Yanping Riverside Park will be temporarily closed. Traffic control and partial roadside parking suspensions will be enforced on the event day. The public is advised to take public transport, apply sun protection, and stay hydrated.
