After stashing away your ski gear and bidding farewell to the snow-covered winter, Korea will don a colorful new look to welcome travelers from around the globe. According to forecasts by the Korea Meteorological Administration, this year’s first cherry blossoms are expected to bloom around March 24 on the beautiful island of Jeju. In the Busan area, the beautiful sight of cherry blossoms can be expected around March 30. As for Seoul—the most favorite spot among Taiwanese travelers—full blooms are predicted around April 16. Although the overall blooming period is slightly later than the historical average, it is four days earlier than last year.

Korea’s major cherry blossom viewing spots are spread across the country, among which the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival—boasting the largest scale locally and ranked as a top choice for both cherry blossom viewing and festivities—is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. During the event period from April 1 to April 10, three special celebration programs will be launched: a “K-pop Star Concert,” a “Fireworks Show over the Sea,” and a “Special Fireworks Display along the Yoshizawa Cherry Blossom Viewing Spot.” The event will also feature performances by military bands from various countries around the world. The festival site combines K-pop and traditional Korean culture, offering a diverse range of hands-on experiences.

Additionally, in Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province, tens of thousands of cherry trees line both banks of the Gamcheon River, where splendid cherry blossoms are expected to be enjoyed around April 1. Coupled with the beautiful scenery of Jirisan Mountain, it’s a must-see attraction in Korea. Meanwhile, the most famous Han River Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival in Seoul is predicted to bloom around April 9 this year. When more than 1,400 cherry trees bloom simultaneously, Yeouinaru Road transforms into a vibrant tunnel of pink blossoms.
