Art museums become new IG hotspots: social spaces where exhibitions play big with visual art

Following the interactive art exhibition TeamLab at Huashan, which pioneered the trend, multimedia interaction has gradually become one of the future directions. Recently, the "Arena" exhibition held at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum created an interactive art experience, reinterpreting the definitions of audience and art in innovative ways, opening up unprecedented experiences.

Continuing the 2016 cross-border collaboration between the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Gwangju Museum of Art in South Korea, this year’s exchange exhibition grandly opened under the theme "Arena." This exhibition was jointly organized by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum and senior curators from Korea, transforming the museum space into a creative experimental field where "display" and "performance" coexist. Artists used "performance" as the main axis of the exhibition, resonating with the creative spirit of our era, and with a completely open form of expression, aiming to open up unprecedented new horizons for the audience’s art experience.

"Arena" metaphorically reflects how artistic creation in today’s globalized context, under the name and purpose of "exchange," allows works from diverse backgrounds to appear in different cultural and temporal settings. The exhibition title highlights the unique artistic performance context of modern cross-border exchanges and also resonates with the "World University Games," thereby leading the museum and the city into a dialogue.
