Korea Bamboo Museum

The Korea Bamboo Museum is located in Jisaek, Damyang-eup, Damyang-gun, South Jeolla Province — one of Korea’s renowned bamboo-producing regions — and opened in March 1998. It is said that bamboo handicrafts from Damyang have a history of over 500 years, dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. The bamboo selected for crafting is flexible, elastic, and of premium quality, which has made them popular among tourists from both home and abroad.

The Bamboo Museum covers a total area of 50,241 square meters and consists of five exhibition halls, an experience and education hall, a video promotion hall, a bamboo industry hall, a celebrity hall, and a foreign hall. The five exhibition halls respectively display the definition and characteristics of bamboo, the global distribution of bamboo, the distribution of bamboo in Korea, various types of bamboo, bamboo cultivation methods, bamboo craft production, medicinal bamboo, and bamboo health science — many of which are closely related to everyday life. In addition to the exhibition halls, the celebrity hall and the foreign hall also attract considerable attention from visitors. These halls showcase bamboo-related products from 13 countries including China and Japan, with a special section dedicated to Anji County in China, offering more in-depth product information.
