Xianyou Bridge

Xianyou Bridge is the first pedestrian bridge on Xianyou Island (a small island in the Han River), where "Xianyou" means to travel in a fairyland. It is located within Xianyou Island Park at 343 Xianyou-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The bridge was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and France, and was designed by French architect Rudy Ricciotti and constructed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. At night, the bridge lights up in red, yellow, blue, and green, resembling a rainbow, hence it is also known as the "Rainbow Bridge."

Xianyou Bridge is made using a new material called "ultra-high strength concrete," giving the entire structure a lighter and more sleek appearance. The bridge deck and railings are made of eco-friendly wood, emphasizing its natural and gentle beauty. From the bridge, visitors can look north toward Han River scenic spots such as the National Assembly Building; west toward downstream Han River views including Seongsan Bridge; south toward the Bukhansan Mountain range and the World Cup Stadium; and east toward Namsan Tower. The towering arch in the middle of Xianyou Bridge offers one of the best viewpoints, and the picturesque surroundings make it especially ideal for leisurely walks—greatly beloved by local residents.
