Yeongdeungpo Underground Street has become quite a famous shopping haven in recent years, offering a wide variety of shops and products. You’ll find trendy clothing for all age groups here, including many men’s fashion stores. So if you’re visiting Korea with your boyfriend, bring him along—no worries about leaving him behind.
The section near Yeongdeungpo Market Station features more mature styles, the middle part mostly has restaurants, and the last stretch is packed with trendy shops perfect for younger shoppers. Its layout is quite similar to Taipei’s underground mall, and there are also some small shops selling plush toys. If you’re traveling with family and want to cater to everyone’s different tastes, Yeongdeungpo Underground Street is definitely the place to go?! Take a break at one of the eateries when you’re tired—it’s no wonder this spot consistently ranks as one of the top underground streets in Seoul.
Yeongdeungpo Underground Street is arguably one of the largest of its kind, but if you’re the type who can shop for 12 hours straight and still worry it’s not enough, don’t worry—the nearby Times Square and Lotte Department Store are also worth visiting. You could easily spend three days exploring them all. (But don’t just come to Seoul for shopping—there’s more to do!)

Lotte Department Store and Lotte Mart are both in Jamsil Underground Street
With around 100 shops, Jamsil Underground Street isn’t very large, so most tourists visiting Seoul usually stop by for some shopping while at Lotte World. Despite its smaller size, it’s a great spot to take a breather during your trip, making it a smart addition to your itinerary if you’re planning to visit Lotte World. Operated by Lotte Department Store, the shops here offer affordable and budget-friendly prices. Aside from plenty of trendy fashion items, you’ll also find a food court, the super-popular Lotte Mart, and Hi-Mart, which sells a variety of electronics and 3C products.

Craving good food and bargains? Goto Mall at the Express Bus Terminal is the place to go
Ever wondered what you could buy in Korea if you only had 10,000 KRW left for shopping? Eyeliner? Lip balm? No way！ At Goto Mall in the Express Bus Terminal Underground Street, you can score clothes, jackets, and even boots for just 10,000 KRW.
Goto Mall underwent renovations in 2012, transforming the old building into a clean and attractive space. Not only are the clothes cheaper than those at Dongdaemun, but you also won’t face any wholesale restrictions. On average, you can grab a piece of clothing here for just 300 TWD. Goto Mall is arguably the largest underground street introduced here, with a huge mall and tons of shops—getting tired from all the walking is totally normal. This is also my top-recommended underground street in Seoul. If you only have a short day for shopping, choosing Goto Mall will definitely be worth it.
Nearby, Hangang Park not only offers the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain show but is also a great spot for night views. If you’re shopping as a couple, come here for a romantic evening date.

A high-quality hub for the hipster crowd: Gangnam Underground Shopping Center
Located in Seoul’s prime commercial district, the Gangnam Underground Shopping Center may not have a large number of shops, but it is synonymous with quality and style. It houses numerous trendy brands as well as hipster cafes and restaurants. If your fashion sense always stands out from the crowd and you love expressing your individuality, then the Gangnam Underground Shopping Center—often dubbed Korea’s Harajuku—is the place to be.
Aside from youth fashion, this spot is also a hotspot for electronics and cafes. Take a break, sip on some coffee, and soak in the local Korean hipster vibe. When you go back home, you’ll definitely have some cool stories to share with your friends about your Korean hipster adventure.

Budget-friendly souvenir shopping paradise: Hoehyeon Underground Shopping Center
When you visit Hoehyeon Underground Shopping Center in Seoul, one must-buy item is the famously affordable Korean skincare product: DERMAL face masks. Each mask costs less than NT$10, so even buying 100 won’t exceed NT$1,000. They make great gifts for family and friends—thoughtful yet budget-friendly. Additionally, the center sells exfoliating towels beloved by tourists. Though they can be found all over Korea, Hoehyeon’s are known for being the cheapest in Seoul.
Situated near Myeongdong, Hoehyeon Underground Shopping Center is often overlooked by shoppers heading to Myeongdong. But if you want to experience the daily life of locals, this is a great spot. Beyond cosmetics, you’ll find various daily necessities, antique shops selling vintage stamps or coins, and vinyl record stores—all giving off a classic old-market vibe. For those who love Korean knick-knacks, this is a must-visit.
Worth noting: Hoehyeon Underground Shopping Center is not inside Hoehyeon or Myeongdong subway stations, but is a standalone underground mall. You’ll need to exit the subway and walk toward the new wing of Shinsegae Department Store to get there—don’t go to the wrong place.
