The city becomes your water slide runway！ The U.S. “Slide the City” event is coming to Seoul

What would it be like if there were a giant water slide in the city? The Korea Tourism Organization recently announced that starting mid-July, ultra-long water slides will appear in cities such as Seoul, Daejeon, Busan, Pohang, and Ulsan, allowing the public to experience the thrill of sliding through urban areas.

The Korea Tourism Organization stated that the idea for the “Slide the City” project—installing water slides in urban settings—originated in the United States. It became hugely popular after its launch last year and has toured over 100 cities across Europe and America. The concept involves setting up a 300-meter-long water slide in the city, with participation available for just $10 USD. Since its debut, it has been a hit, traveling to more than 100 cities in Europe and the U.S.

The urban water slide event in Korea is officially authorized by the U.S. and will take place at Hangang Park on Yeouido Island from July 17 to 19. It will then continue in other locations including Sangam in Seongsu, Daejeon’s Seo District on Doan-daero Road, and the Ulsan Culture Hall and Youth Street.

In addition, the Korean government is launching a similar event festival, starting on July 18 and 19 along Yonsei-ro in Sangam. It will then move to Expo Bridge in Daejeon, Song Sang-hyun Plaza in Busan’s Seo-myeon, Gwangalli Beach, and Yeongildae Beach in Pohang, where the excitement of massive urban water slides will unfold.
